About Mello
Mello is a cosy, calm social network - the little social network that feels like home.
Mello is a small, friendly place to keep up with the people you actually know. It deliberately turns its back on the modern social-media playbook: there is no algorithm, no ads, no news and no strangers in your feed. Instead of chasing engagement, Mello is built to feel like a quiet corner of the internet that is genuinely yours.
What makes Mello different
- No algorithm. You see posts from your friends in the order they happened, not whatever an engagement engine decides will keep you scrolling.
- No ads and no tracking-for-profit. Mello is free and does not sell your attention.
- No strangers. Posting, commenting, liking and giving beans are all for accepted friends. You choose who is in your world.
- A page that is all yours. Arrange your own profile, pick a theme, and make a little home page that feels like you.
What you can do on Mello
- Your Wall. Share posts, pictures and thoughts with the people you know.
- The Guestbook.Sign a friend's page with a little doodle, the way you might scribble in a real guestbook.
- Your Circle of Friends. Keep a small, curated ring of the people who matter, shown around your profile.
- The Bean Jar. Give a friend a bean from your daily tin as a playful little thank-you. There are twenty hand-drawn flavours.
- My People. Mark up to three special someones and say what they are to you - best friend, sibling, partner or otherwise.
- Bean Pets. Hatch a virtual pet from a bean a friend gave you, and let your Circle help look after it while you are away.
- Games. Set a word on your profile and let friends play Hangman, with a little leaderboard.
Who Mello is for
Mello is for people aged 18 and over who want a calmer, kinder way to stay in touch with friends. If you miss the early days of the social web - personal pages, doodles, and small circles rather than endless feeds of strangers - Mello is built for you. It is a cosy alternative to the big, noisy networks, with privacy and a gentle pace at its heart.
Miss Bebo?
If Mello reminds you of Bebo, that is on purpose. It is a modern Bebo alternative in spirit: profile skins, a doodle Guestbook, your closest people and a small Circle of Friends - brought back calmer, more private, and without the algorithm.
How to join
You can create an account when signups are open, or ask a friend on Mello to invite you. Everyone confirms they are 18 or over when they join. Once you are in, add a few friends and start making your page your own.
